„Ars mimetica“ möchte – von der Musik ausgehend - zwischen Künsten und Kulturbereichen vermitteln, stellt einen Versuch dar, komparatistisches, intermediales, interdisziplinäres Denken zu kultivieren. „Ars mimetica“ stellt sich zur Diskussion, beginnend mit dem Titel: semantisch verkürzt wird Mimesis oft mit Nachahmung übersetzt und in dieser Bedeutung abqualifiziert. Doch spielt nicht stets Imitatorisches hinein, wo leichthin Kreativität behauptet wird?
„Ars mimetica” aims to mediate – starting from music – between different spheres of art and culture. It represents an attempt to cultivate comparatistic, intermedial and interdisciplinary thinking. „Ars mimetica“ offers itself for discussion, beginning with its title. Semantically abbreviated, mimesis is frequently translated as imitation and thereby demoted in its meaning. However, are there not always traces of emulative or mimicking action to be found whenever we are confronted with a claim to creativity?
Warum wird in literarischen, in Wortkunst-Werken inhaltlich und formal auf Musikalisches reflektiert? Wir möchten eine These wagen: es geschieht in mimetischer Absicht: zur Darstellung einer die gewöhnliche Wahrnehmung transzendierenden Welt, zur Evokation entsprechender Vorstellungen. Die Verbindung zum angrenzenden Kapitel („Projekt Mimesis“) ist dabei offensichtlich.
Why does literature, in works of art using words, so often reflect on the content and the form of music? We would like to advance an explanation: the purpose behind this is a mimetic one: an attempt to represent the world in ways which transcend the normal terms within which we frame our perceptions, and to evoke shapes of the imagination in line with that. The connection to the adjacent chapter („Project Mimesis”) should be obvious.
Unter diesem Titel versammeln wir Beiträge, welche die unterschiedlichsten (künstlerischen - kulturellen - wissenschaftlichen) Aspekte einer auf den Mimesisbegriff zentrierten Thematik diskutieren (z.B. was ist darstellbar?). Bedeutungsfelder werden abgesteckt und sollen dabei nicht auf Gemeinplätze (modische Erklärungen einer sinnlosen oder bedeutungsschwangeren Welt, zwischen Dekonstruktion und Hyperreferenz) reduziert werden.
Under this title we have collected essays which focus on discussion of the idea of mimesis, approaching the theme from very diverse angles: artistic - cultural - scientific (e.g., what is even capable of being represented?). Fields of meaning are staked out without reducing them to platitudes or clichés (fashionable buzzwords about a world which is devoid of meaning or saturated with significance, oscillating between deconstruction and hyper-reference).
